activity. This may lead to some error when calculating K,. Secondly, the potassium salt of the herbicide may produce some ion pairs. The calculation of Tz using line width is not very accurate and thus T2 measurements using the spinecho method may be preferred. The line-width changes in 2,4,5-T resonance peaks at a fixed BSA concentration in solutions of different pH are shown in Figure 4. The decrease in line width with increasing pH may be explained on the basis of a decrease in binding at higher pH values. Such a decrease may be due to denaturation of the protein a t higher pH values. The lH NMR results of herbicide-BSA binding indicate that the CHz*protons are more affected by the binding than the ring protons, suggesting that they are closer to the binding site. This is in agreement with the earlier investigation of the binding of phenoxyacetic acid and proteins (Fischer and Jardetzky, 1965). I t is interesting to note that this is in contrast with the binding of the chlorinated hydrocarbon bis(p-chloropheny1)acetic acid with BSA, where the binding involves the benzene ring (Haque et al., 1974). Such behavior may be due to the large difference in the hydrophobic characteristics of chlorinated hydrocarbons and these herbicides.

Smut Fungi Reported From Iran ( Identification - Hostrange - Distribution)
In the present study, previous reported smut fungi of Iran were reviewed. For this purpose, all specimens being present in the fungus section of Herbarium Ministerii Iranici Agriculturae "IRAN" as well as some newly collected ones were studied. Moreover, all taxonomic and or floristic papers so far published for smut fungi of Iran, were considered. Important characteristics such as: host plant(...
متن کاملPercentage distribution of foliicolous fungi of Maharashtra, India with respect to their disease symptoms: a novel study
Fungal spores are continuously deposited on the leaf surfaces by wind impaction, sedimentation and rain wash-out from the atmosphere and splash-dispersal. They reside and act as asymptomatic mutualists, benign commensals or latent pathogens. A slight imbalance in this relation can lead to pathogenic phase of the fungi, resulting in a variety of symptoms on leaves viz. discoloration, blight, soo...
متن کاملLycopene accumulation affects the biosynthesis of some carotenoid-related volatiles independent of ethylene in tomato.
For elucidating the regulatory mechanism of ethylene on carotenoid-related volatiles (open chain) compounds and the relationship between lycopene and carotenoid-related volatiles, transgenic tomato fruits in which ACC synthase was suppressed were used. The transgenic tomato fruit showed a significant reduction of lycopene and aroma volatiles with low ethylene production. 6-Methyl-5-hepten-2-one...
متن کاملDiversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal spores associated with Sorbus torminalis (L.) Crantz
This study aimed to investigate the diversity and types of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) associated with the wild service tree, Sorbus torminalis (L.) Crantz in spring and autumn followed by identifying similarities among the different study sites. Three different sites were selected including Kheiroud, Lalis, and Tarkin, in the Hyrcanian forests, north of Iran. Five rhizosphere soil sampl...

Interactive identification keys for Australian smut fungi (Ustilaginomycotina and Pucciniomycotina, Microbotryales) and rust fungi (Pucciniomycotina, Pucciniales) are available online at http://collections.daff.qld.gov.au. The keys were built using Lucid software, and facilitate the identification of all known Australian smut fungi (317 species in 37 genera) and 100 rust fungi (from approximate...
